As of May 2014, there are more than twenty properties on court auction. While the number is not so high, properties listed seem quite attractive. Although farm land may be only used as farm, the price ranges from 300 yen to 800 yen per square meter. Preowned homes are below 30,000 US dollars on the base bid price. So quality certainly seems to be there. The region might have been neglected by investors.

Risk averse mentality can help avoid unwanted troubles. A buyer cannot bid just from information on paper. There may be something hidden. And each property is unique, not always described well in words or photos. So it is wise to procure an assistance of local agent, the auction concierge.
